Newtownwhite N.S. is a two-teacher country school between Ballina and Killala. It was built in 1906 as a one-teacher school and remained so until 1983 when a second teacher was appointed.
The building was recently renovated and extended.
While under Church of Ireland management, children of all denominations make up our numbers.

"Active School Week" joint County winners '07, Merit Award '08. Awarded Active School Flag June '10. Participated in Lacken Science Fair '07, '08, '09,'10. Prize winners in Mayo Co. Council 'Best kept school' competition in 2010.


Book loan/rental scheme operates in school: School Lunch Scheme and Personal Accident Insurance optional.
Occasional visits to Ballina Library & Arts Centre.
Visitors in to the school as relevant to curriculum: Archaeologist, Drama Groups, Sporting coaches, Local Craft people etc.
